About Viagra

Sildenafil citrate, sold as Viagra, Revatio and under various other trade names, is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It was originally developed by British scientists and then brought to market by the US-based pharmaceutical company Pfizer. It acts by inhibiting cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5, an enzyme that delays degradation of cGMP, which regulates blood flow in the penis. Since becoming available in 1998, sildenafil has been the prime treatment for erectile dysfunction; its primary competitors on the market are tadalafil (Cialis) and vardenafil (Levitra).

The primary indication of sildenafil is treatment of erectile dysfunction (inability to sustain a satisfactory erection to complete intercourse). Its use is now standard treatment for erectile dysfunction in all settings, including diabetes. People on antidepressants may experience sexual dysfunction, either as a result of their illness or as a result of their treatment. A 2003 study showed that sildenafil improved sexual function in men in this situation. Following up to earlier reports from 1999, the same researchers found that sildenafil was able to improve sexual function in female patients on antidepressants as well.

  • INDICATIONS

Differin is used for treating severe acne. Differin is a retinoid-like compound. It helps the skin cells renew quicker and decreases blackhead formation.

    INSTRUCTIONS

Use Differin as directed by your doctor.

    • Do not use other medicines on your skin without first discussing it with your doctor.
    • Differin is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, angles of the nose, and mucous membranes. Exposure of Differin to the eye may cause swelling, redness, and irritation.
    • Do not apply Differin to cuts, abrasions, eczematous skin, or sunburned skin.
    • Use Differin in the evening before bedtime unless directed otherwise by your doctor.
    • Before applying Differin, clean the area to be treated with mild soap or soapless cleanser and gently dry.
    • Apply a thin film of Differin to the affected and surrounding area. Rub in gently. Wash your hands immediately after using Differin.
    • A mild sensation of warmth or slight stinging may occur shortly after using Differin.
    • If you miss a dose of Differin, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. If several applications are missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Differin.

  • Do NOT use Differin if:

    • you are allergic to any ingredient in Differin.

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Some medical conditions may interact with Differin. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

    Important safety information:

    • Differin may cause harm if it is swallowed. If you may have taken it by mouth, contact your poison control center or emergency room right away.

    • Certain cosmetic procedures, such as waxing, should not be performed on treated skin due to possible irritation.
